Cold Queen

Now this is an audience participation story and I hope you will all join in.

There once was a cold queen (hold arms and shiver) and she had three daughters. Her eldest daughter had a bit of a cough (cough and tap chest with fist), her second eldest daughter had a runny nose (wipe nose with finger) and her youngest daughter was very very sad (arh…)

Now the reason why everyone was cold was because a wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) had cast a spell on the land so that it was covered in ice and snow.

Now there was a handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) and he was determined to go on a quest to capture the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) and lift the spell from off the land so that the ice and snow would melt and the land would become warm again. As a reward he would gain the hand of the sad princess (arh…).

The handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) mounted his horse (neigh…) and rode to the palace. He was stopped by the guard (raise right hand): Halt! Who goes there!

I am the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) and I have come to see the cold queen (hold arms and shiver). The guard (raise right hand): Halt! Who goes there! Then led the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) into the throne room.

The handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) addressed the cold queen (hold arms and shiver):

Your majesty I wish to go on a quest to capture the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) and lift the spell from off the land so that the ice and snow will melt and the land will become warm again. As a reward I would wish to gain the hand of the sad princess (arh…).

The cold queen (hold arms and shiver) replied:

Very well. But take this wand with you and when you capture the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) tap him with this wand and he will shrink down and down and then he will turn into a glowing green crystal. You will then be able to put him inside this small box. And when you have done that the spell will be lifted from my land and the ice and snow will melt and it will become warm again.

The handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) took the wand and the small box and he bid goodbye to them. He mounted his horse (neigh…) and rode away from the palace. He rode up hill and down dale and up hill and down dale and up hill and down dale till he came to the land of the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) and there was his castle. He managed to enter the castle and he captured the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) then he tapped him with the wand and he shrank and shrank and changed into a glowing green crystal and then he popped him inside the little box. As soon as the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) was secure inside the little box the spell was lifted from the land and the ice and snow melted and the land became warm again.

The handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) mounted his horse (neigh…) and rode up hill and down dale and up hill and down dale and up hill and down dale till once again he came back to the land of the cold queen (hold arms and shiver). But now all the ice and snow had melted and the land had become warm again and everywhere he rode there were flowers and the trees were in bloom.

The handsome prince arrived back at the palace and he was stopped by the guard (raise right hand): Halt! Who goes there!

I am the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) and I have returned from my quest. The guard (raise right hand): Halt! Who goes there! Then led the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) into the throne room.

And there was the cold queen (hold arms and shiver) except that she wasn’t cold anymore. And there was the eldest princess (cough and tap chest with fist) except that she hadn’t a cough anymore. And there was the second eldest princess (wipe nose with finger) except that she didn’t have a runny nose anymore. And there was the youngest princess who was still very very sad.

Your majesty I have returned from my quest and I have captured the wicked wizard (chuckle and rub hands together) and he is safely inside this little box. With that the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist) handed the wand and the little box over to the cold queen (hold arms and shiver), force of habit I suppose.

And then the cold queen (hold arms and shiver) who wasn’t cold anymore addressed the handsome prince (back of right hand to forehead and left hand to waist):

Well done! And now you may marry the sad princess (arh…) who was still very very sad.

Then the cold queen (hold arms and shiver) who wasn’t cold anymore took the little box and she opened it. And the green crystal glowed and when she closed the box the light went out and when she opened it the light came on and when she closed it the light went out and when she opened it the light came on and when she closed it the light went off. And that is the story of how the refrigerator was invented.
